Shohei Ohtani addresses his return to Anaheim to play the Anaheim Angels, the emotions, Mookie Betts big home run, the teams momentum and more

Kirsten: Shohei, just, I know this has been a highly anticipated return. How special was it just being back here when you started your career?

Will: アナハイムに戻れてキャリアが始まった場所何ですけども特別な気持ちとかある意味古巣に戻れて、何か特別なお気持ちとか感じましたかい？

[Translation]: Coming back to Anaheim, where you started your career, special feeling old home come back, something special you felt?

Shohei: ま、レギュラーシーズンで初めてだったのでもちろん楽しみにしていましたし勝ちたいなというのが一番良かったので、いい形で勝てて良かったなと。

[Translation]: It was my first time coming back in the regular season and I wanted to win and we won in the best way.

Will: First time in the regular season obviously playing in front of the team but most importantly it's about winning the game and I'm glad that we won.

Reporter: A lot of Dodger fans obviously here, probably about half I would say, how impressed have you been with I guess the passion of the fan base and their willingness to travel to places like San Diego and Phoenix to see you guys?

[Translation]: Today, over half the fans were Dodgers fans, Dodgers fans travel to enemy territories extremely what do you feel?

Shohei: 本当に選手としてありがたいですし心強いなというのが率直なところかなと思うので流れとしても大きい声援があるとそれだけで違うんじゃないかなと思うと、心強いなと思います。

[Translation]: Definitely for the player, I am thankful and it makes me feel spiritually stronger is my honest response. The loud fans help us find our flow and momentum in the and makes us feel spiritually strong.

Will: As a player, we feel very supportive and appreciative of all the fans that are, you know, in front of me, in front of the team and you know it makes it makes a difference that they're out here.

Reporter: Shohei, you said you were going to get emotional playing at home, regular season game, did you have a moment where you felt got emotional?

Will: ホーム、ふるさとに戻ってきて多少感情的になるところもあると思うんですけども何かそういう場面っていうのは今日ありましたか?

[Translation]: Home, hometown coming back somewhat emotional I think did you have a place like that today?

Shohei: そうですねあのーまアナハイム,まファンの人たちにプレイできるというのがまず一番かな本当に感謝しかない本当に今日ここでプレーできたっていうのが自分にとって大きなことだなと思います.

[Translation]: Yes, Anaheim, in front of the fans, being able to play is first and foremost. I am only thankful and definitely today being able to play here is the biggest thing for me.

Will: the biggest part of all this is really being able to play at the stadium in front of the Anaheim fans. That was the part that was special for me.

Reporter: What did you think about Mookie coming up behind you and coming through with the homerun?

Will: あの場面で10回の場面でムーキーがホームランを打てたというところではどう思いました?

[Translation]: That place, the 10th inning, Mookie homerun hit what did you think?

Shohei: もう本当にさすがの一言ですし、うちとしては一番いい形で勝てたと思うので逆に言えばエンジェルズ的には一番嫌な形で得点されたのかなと思ってま明日にあのー

自分たちがいい流れで入っていけるのかなと思います。

[Translation]: Definitely as expected is the only think I can say, for us it is the best way to win and for the Angels it is the worst way to lose. Tomorrow it will give us good momentum for the game.

Will: I'm not really surprised that Mookie came through in that kind of fashion. It's the kind of way that we like to finish the game, obviously in a good way. And I'm sure for Anaheim it was a little tough to see.

Reporter: The Dodgers look to be pulling away from their rivals in the division. What is his feeling about the way the team is playing of late?

Will: 最近チームのプレー特に同地区に対してゲーム差がどんどん広がっている中でチームのプレーの仕方とか何か感想はありますか?

[Translation]: Recently, the team’s play, especially in the division the lead is getting wider, the team’s play do you have an opinion?

Shohei: そうですね、今日もなかなかこうヒットとが出なかったりとか苦しい時まあったんだと思いますけど。ワンチャンスをものにしていると思いし。まそう言う風に繋がってくると打線としてもいいんじゃないかなと最後の月ですし。最後まで振り絞って頑張りたいなと思います。

[Translation]: Yes, today the hits weren’t coming and there were difficult times. We had one chance and we made it our own. The lineup connected the at bats and we only have a month left. We will give it our all and work hard til the end.

Will: I mean today when you look back at today's game, you know, there were moments when we didn't come through, but sometimes when we get an opportunity to do so we were able to capitalize and that's the kind of in a way, we try to win some games. I think it's a really good thing for us as a team that we're able to do that today.
