Shohei Ohtani 5 Innings of No-Hit Pitching 🔥 Also Touches Upon Potential in Outfield Defense

Reporter: ホームラン王争いという意味では今日50本目のホームランを打って昨日はシュワバー選手が打ってというところがあったんですけど今この状況というのはどのように見られているというかタイトルへの思いとかも含めて?

[Tranlation]: In the home run race, you hit your 50th and Schwarber hit one yesterday, how do you feel about the home run title right now?

Shohei: あそこはもう全然何も感じた無いですかね。ま、はい。1打席でもう多くいいアットパッド作りたいなっていうだけなのでチームの順位いろいろありますけど、まず自分のコントロールできるところを第一に考えて。1日1日頑張りたいなと思っています。

[Translation]: I don’t feel anything about it. I just want to take good at bats. I am concerned about our standings but the things that I can control are at the top of my mind. Each day I want to work hard.

Reporter: 50号というのは大きな数字だと思うんですけどこのかなり50号て言うのは大谷選手の中ではどう言った想いというか到達したいもの？

[Translation]: 50 homeruns, I think, is a big number, for you Shohei what does 50 homeruns mean?

Shohei: まあもちろん到達できるということはそれだけチームが勝つ確率が高くなるということだと思うのでホームランももちろんそうですフォアボールをしっかりとるっていうのもまた大事な一番です仕事だとは思うので状況によってま、大事だなと思っています。

[Translation]: Yes, if I can get there I think it is something that can help the team win definitely. If I am taking my homeruns and walks I think I am doing my best job. Depending on the situation, I think it is important.

Reporter: 今ブルペンの不安定な状況自分が可能性がある想定することではありますか？

[Translation]: With the bullpen struggles right now, do you anticipate that you may be appearing in relief?

Shohei: いろんな人といろんな話をしてもちろん当然その話も出ましたしさっきも言いましたけどプレイヤーとしてどこでも行けと言われた時に対応ができる準備というのをまずしたいなと思っているそれがマウントでもそうですしもしかしたら、まあ、外野もね。リリーフで行くということはその後のことも考えると外野の重厚の守備にもつかないいけないという状況があったりすると思うのでどんな状況になったとしてもしっかりとこう対応できる準備をしたいなと思います。

[Translation]: I have talked to a lot of people about a lot of different things and that is one thing that has been brought up. Definitely as a player I am prepared to respond in whatever manner the team needs. It could be the mound, outfield, or relief. As a reliever I need to think of outfield depth and defense, whatever the situation I want to be ready for anything.

Reporter: 昨シーズン終盤打撃も好調に投げて、2年連続５０本打てて自分自身のバットの状態どうですか?

[Translation]: Last season you hit well, this season you achieved 50 homeruns again. How do you feel you bat is right now?

Shohei: なんかすごい調子のいい時期だなみたいなのが前も言ったと思うあんまりこうなくここまで来てる感じではあると思うので調子が悪い時に逆に言えばそれなりの打席が送れたっていうのももちろんそうだと思うのでここまでは残り少ないですけどねいい状態というのを最後にポストシーズンに向けて合わせれれば最高なんじゃないかなと思います。ありがとうございました。

[Translation]: I can’t really say I have been going well it just seems like it is just going and when it has been bad I think I still had good at bats. In the games I have left, I want to maintain my good condition towards the postseason. That is the best thing I think. Thanks.
